Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TapHum.

The basics

What is TapHum?

TapHum is a presence app. You connect with the people who matter most, and when you want them to know you're thinking of them, you tap their circle. They feel a gentle hum on their phone. That's it. No text, no photos, no chat. Just a warm signal that says "I'm here."

How is this different from texting?

Texting requires you to think of something to say, type it, and wait for a reply. TapHum removes all of that. One tap, one second, done. There's no pressure to respond, no read receipts, and no typing indicators. It's the space between "I want to reach out" and "I don't want to have a full conversation."

Is TapHum free?

Yes. TapHum is completely free with no restrictions. All features are available to everyone.

What devices does TapHum work on?

TapHum is currently available on Android. An iOS version is coming soon.

Getting started

How do I connect with someone?

Tap the + button on your home screen. You'll get a unique invite code. Share that code with the person you want to connect with (via text, WhatsApp, email, or in person with the QR code). When they enter your code in their TapHum app, you're instantly connected.

How many people can I connect with?

There's no limit. Connect with as many people as you'd like.

Can I customize how someone appears on my screen?

Yes. Long-press any person's circle on your home screen to personalize them. You can give them a nickname (only you see it) and choose a custom glow color so you can recognize them instantly.

What does the other person see when I tap them?

Their phone vibrates with a gentle haptic pattern. They get a push notification saying you tapped them. If they open the app, they see a warm, breathing glow with your name, the time, and a "Tap back" button.

Using TapHum

What does a tap mean?

Whatever you want it to mean. TapHum doesn't assign meanings. When your partner taps you at midnight, you know it means "goodnight, love you." When your kid taps you after going out, you know it means "I'm safe." The meaning lives in the relationship, not the app.

Is there a limit to how many taps I can send?

No. Send as many as you want.

Are there read receipts?

No. A tap is a gift, not a question. There are no "seen" indicators, no read receipts, and no pressure to respond. If someone doesn't tap back, that's perfectly fine.

What are streaks?

When you and someone exchange taps every day, TapHum tracks your streak. You can see it in your History. It's gentle and encouraging, not gamified. It just shows how many days you've been connected in a row.

Account and privacy

How do I remove someone from my connections?

Go to Settings and scroll to the Connections section. Tap the remove icon next to the person's name. This will delete the connection and all your shared taphum history for both of you.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to Settings, scroll to Danger Zone, and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, all your connections, and all your taphum history.

Is my data private?

Yes. TapHum collects the minimum data needed to work: your name, email, and taphum records (who tapped who and when). We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Can other people find me on TapHum?

No. There are no public profiles, no user search, and no discovery features. The only way to connect with someone is by sharing your invite code directly with them.
